No Xong ceremony (also known as food-swear ceremony) is one ofthe very important ceremonies of the Hmong people,particularly in Long Lan village. It is a unique culturaltraditional custom that its main purpose is to strengthen the solidarity for community governance and for management, protection and development natural resources.
On 23rd and 24th November 2013 Lo Xongceremonywas organized in Long Lan village with the participation of the Hmong communities, Khmu and Lao Lum village leaders;young eco-farmers; elders and key farmers from Thailand;staff from central and provincial levels; community development organizations and alsothe participation of a Vietnam global cooperation media channel.
After the No Xong ceremony, on 25th November 2013 young eco-farmers have organized a meeting to elect the secretariat group of eco-farming network of Mekong regionin order to continuously nurture and develop the beautiful traditional cultural identities of minority groups in Mekong region, to assert livelihood sovereignty of peoplein this region byfeeding three strategies: 1) sovereignty; 2) governance and 3) leadership by the traditional systems. |
